RCD Introduces High Power Economical Edgewound Resistors
Manchester, New Hampshire (USA) – RCD Components, a leading manufacturer of resistors, coils, capacitors, and delay lines has announced the release of their new high power ‘edgewound’ resistors. This new family of resistors offers greatly increased power ratings, up to 25% more than the typical wattage found in similar package sizes. Designed to meet heavy-duty requirements where space is at a premium. RCD’s unique ribbon-wound element offers the industry’s highest power ratings from 75 watt to 2000 watts, making it especially suited for a diverse range of applications. Applications include power supplies, load testing, power switching circuits, power distribution, high power medical instrumentation, and data transmission systems.
RCD’s new family, designated EW (EdgeWound power resistor) features a newly developed proprietary winding process. The ribbon element edgewound onto a high performance ceramic tube is fully insulated with a highly thermal conductive flameproof silicone coating.
The EW series is available in seventeen power sizes, ranging from 75-watts to 2000-watts. Dimensions range from 4.33″ long (75-watt) to 25.59″ (2000-watt), and available in a resistance range from 0.1W to 200W, 1% to 10% tolerance. Samples and production quantities of RCD’s EW series are available now, with lead-times of six to eight weeks for larger orders. Typical pricing (size dependent) starting as low as $2.50 each at the 1000 piece level.
