Manchester, New Hampshire (USA) – RCD Components, a leading manufacturer of resistors, coils, and delay lines has announced the release of a space-saving flat inductor coil. This new inductor, designated FRL (Flat Radial Lead inductor) offers maximum space-savings for densely populated boards. The unique characteristics of the rectangular geometry enable greatly increased current ratings over conventional (cylindrical) inductors. For example the current rating of a 1uH device is 7Amps, vs. .385Amp for similar sized cylindrical inductor. The new Series is available in wide inductance range from 0.82uH to 10mH, and are designed for use at radio as well as audio frequencies. Applications include noise filtering, DC/DC converters, switching regulators, audio equipment, telecom, RF circuits, audio filters, power supplies, and power amplifiers.
The FRL series is also available in wide range of customized models including non-standard values, increased current, high temperature, military screening, and user specified test frequencies. FRL Dimensions are 0.394” [10mm] long x 0.354” [9mm] high x 0.157” [4mm] wide. Samples and production quantities of RCD’s FRL are available now, with lead-times of eight weeks for larger orders. Typical pricing is less than $.50 each in production volumes.
