RCD Provides High-Power, Flat, Low-Cost, Stackable Wirewound Resistor Series for Minimal Height Installation
Manchester, New Hampshire (USA) – RCD Components, today announced the release of a new series of wirewound resistors featuring a unique oval-shaped ceramic core construction. The specially-designed integral mounting brackets allows stackable mounting configurations for increased power ratings and minimal height installation.
The RCD series FW of wirewound resistors is optimized for surge protection, voltage division, and motor control applications in a wide variety of consumer applications. Series FWE (edgewound version) offers one of the highest size-topower ratio in the industry, making it ideally suited for most high power applications.
Eighteen devices are currently included in the FW and FWE series, with sizes ranging from a 3.26-in length and 2.75-in spacing between the terminals to 13.11- in with a 12.6-in terminal-to-terminal spacing. Available power ratings from 40 W to 450 W and resistance from 0.1W 35KW, in tolerances as low as 3%.
RCD’s FW, and FWE devices can be used as a cost-effective and lightweight replacement for bulkier ceramic and aluminum styles resistors-allowing system designers to streamline product design and manufacturing costs.
Samples and production quantities of the FW and FWE resistors are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders.
